About three quarters through January and still in the depths of Winter as we slowly make our way towards the light, this time offers us a moment of quiet reflection after the excitement of celebrations and new year resolutions.
As the energy settles after this first full moon of 2025, we are left with a more subtle prompting, a profound question from the soul:
Are we guiding our lives toward the growth we desire?
Meaning, what daily actions and inactions are we engaging in to collaboratively shape our vision, in harmony with our heart's desires for the greatest benefit of the collective?
We'll explore together the energetics of this year and the insights that both Numerology and Tarot offer to support us in the mundane and the magic realms.
Numerology
To figure out which number rules 2025, we create a simple addition of each number.
2 + 0 + 2 + 5
= 9
A number of completion, marking the almost end of a cycle.
This shows us that 2025 is an important transitional period for the world, one where we can close some of our own cycles and clear to make space for renewed life.
The Number 9 represents the humanitarian. 9 is action grounded in love and collective care. It shares its accumulated knowledge and wisdom freely, without asking anything in return. It is self-sacrificing, offering the fruits of its labour abundantly with others.
Self-sacrifice or surrender doesn’t have to be a harsh process of relinquishing everything we possess or need. It can be approached with more nuance and gentleness, only letting go of what we are ready to release and in time, with practice this surrender becomes second nature and we only hold on to what truly serves us and the people around us.
One of the key lessons regarding balance with the number 9 is to remember to care for yourself and pursue what lights you up and brings you energy. The shadow aspect of this number can lead us to burnout as we forget to prioritise our wellbeing and connection to self.
It is important to give to yourself first, meet your own needs and create time and space to integrate the lessons of life before you can share them with others. Take some time to sit with what is there and process it in the way only you can before you feel ready to offer it up to the collective.
Tarot Association to Number 9
The Tarot card within the Major Arcana is associated with the number 9 is the Hermit.
The Hermit archetype is heavily linked to the inward seeker. It naturally tends towards introspection, self-reflection and exploring one’s inner world.
The Hermit gives us a clue as to how to avoid the shadow aspect of 9. The Hermit tells us to look and reach within for the answers. It calls us to a deeper layer of understanding, away from the distractions of the outer world.
Some ways of cultivating this inner connection are:
setting some time each day to reflect on your reality and present moment
engaging in a movement practice that quiets the mind
planning or joining gatherings that hold this similar intent of inner connection and exploration
creating some time to be with the Land, commune with trees, plants, the waters and the animals
contemplating certain beliefs you may hold that could be severing you from feeling connection to self and the vast universe
Planetary Association to Number 9
In the realms of the heavens, the number 9 is associated with Mars, the planet of action and determination.
With the Martian energy on our side and by utilising our capacity to connect with ourselves as a doorway to others and the Universe, this year is promising in terms of longterm changes that will benefit the collective, the Earth and our direct and daily experience of life.
Something to note here, is that our relationship with our willpower will be highlighted this year as Mars represents our drive and what we are willing to fight for.
To channel this energy in a way that is conducive to personal and collective growth, we must take time to know our why, our intention behind what we desire. Without the latter, we can become endlessly seeking out, with no real purpose or aim.
Overview and closing message...
Something to come back to this year... Yourself!
In all your glory, beauty, rage, love, sadness, magic... your whole self.
Human and Divine. The world needs all of you.
Numerologist Kaitlyn Kaerhart in the Celestial Bodies Oracle deck by Devany Amber Wolfe shares the Number 9 Mantra:
"My love for humanity knowns no bounds and I give as much as I receive"
I will leave you to meditate on these words.
